Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium
Colorado State University-Pueblo's Rawlings Sports Complex is one of the region's finest multi-sport complexes, housing the CSU Pueblo baseball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's soccer programs.
The Rawlings Sports Complex features a 2,500-seat baseball facility, Rawlings Field, and the four-diamond Rawlings Softball Complex, as well as the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.
The three facilities together opened in 1994, to usher in the creation of the women's soccer, baseball and softball programs at CSU Pueblo. The construction was made possible with a $1 million gift by Pueblo Chieftain publisher, Robert H. Rawlings, and earned the distinction of being the "best outdoor facility in the nation" by Athletic Management magazine. For his contribution, Rawlings was named the 1996 College Division donor of the year by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors.
In 2008, the baseball and softball complexes were fitted with synthetic turf backstops while the baseball facility added a synthetic turf infield, giving the ThunderWolf infielders the advantage of fielding the truest bounces in the RMAC.
Following the conclusion of the 2009 season, the Rawlings Soccer Complex welcomed the installation of lights to allow night games.
With the addition of men's and women's lacrosse for the 2015 season and thanks to generous donations (both monetary and in-kind), a $3 million renovation to soccer/lacrosse complex began in 2014 with the installation of a new synthetic turf field.
On April 2, 2015, ground was broken for the new fieldhouse structure, which features five locker rooms (men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, men's track and field), each with 44 lockers, offices, an athletic training room, public restrooms, a concession area, a ticket booth, and a lobby area. The stadium also features a 550-seat grandstand and enclosed press box.
CSU-Pueblo hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony March 18, 2016 to celebrate the completion of the newly renovated Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium and honor all those who had contributed to the project. The stadium was named after Art and Lorraine Gonzales, whose generous donations made the facility possible.
